Dedication & Blessings
On Sept. 15, during the Days of Awe, we dedicated and blessed our baby S during our Messianic fellowship's Shabbat service, under the chuppah, which is actually a tallit (prayer shawl) right after we all sang the Sabbath Prayer of blessings over our children (the same one sang in The Fiddler on the Roof, beautiful!).
Then little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 19:13-14
[MOTHERS AND FATHERS]
May the Lord protect and defend you.
May He always shield you from shame.
May you come to be
In Israel a shining name.
May you be like Ruth and like David.
May you be deserving of praise.
Strengthen us, Oh Lord,
And keep us in Messiah's ways.
May God bless you and grant you long lives.
(May the Lord fulfill our Sabbath prayer for you.)
May God make you good husbands and wives.
May the Lord protect and defend you.
May the Lord preserve you from pain.
Favor them, Oh Lord, with happiness and peace.
Oh, hear our Sabbath prayer. Amen.
Thank you Father for our children, and for this new blessing in all our lives. Guide and direct us Lord, that we may be the parents you've called us to be. Draw our childrens' hearts to Yourself. May they follow hard after You alone. May Your hand of protection be upon this precious little life, which we offer back to You.

That’s so beautiful Beth. I love that song.

May the Lord bless you little S.
Beautiful pictures of her dedication!
Thanks Carla!
I went ahead and linked that scene (one of my faves from the movie, that and Tevya’s wedding) in my post. Tab and I just listened to our other faves there: “Tradition”, “If I were a Wealthy Man” and “Sunrise, Sunset” (that one makes me cry!)… Thanks so much for the cards and letters you sent Tab and I. You’re such a blessing!
(((love & hugs)))
Thanks Steph. I wish that we’d gotten more pictures, but oh well… We were doing good just to have made it there on time, without having her gown doused in spit-up! LOL
Oohhhh, that’s so beautiful. *sniffles*
She is so beautiful! She looks so much like N, though I can see T also. Her hair is red like N’s, isn’t it? I loved getting to see all the pictures. I’m being lazy today while I can. I have food bank to help with this afternoon, being there while P picks T up for his Thurs nite visitation, and then to help a friend clean the house they are buying and moving into, so it will get busy here in a couple of hours. I just figured I would enjoy the shabbat while it is so peaceful and quiet. G and I are at friends. I’m looking forward to seeing y’all this weekend at the succot celebration.
Love and shalom,
Serena
How beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing with us.
She’s so beautiful! I’ve enjoyed seeing the new pics. I wish I could have come visited this weekend, but at this late stage of pregnancy I’m just too bushed and I’m already having to do a lot of running around.
I love that song, too. We’ve been singing it at our fellowship meetings, and I get all teary-eyed.
