Birthday Blessing ~

Published by Beth at 12:43 pm under Faith, Family

Yes, this next Thursday I will be turning 32. I do have so much to be thankful for. But this year something extraordinary is happening on my birthday. It was not even planned to happen on my birthday, but incidentally is going to fall on the same day... It's a MIRACLE in the making!!

Without going into all of the details here, I just wanted to share of this joyous occasion with you all...

My dear hubby, Chris, has not seen his Dad in about 20 years! Before this past year, their communication has been little to none (and Chris doing most of the initiating), with Chris having received a few cards from him as a child, and then calling his Dad about once, to a few times, a year since we've been married. But it's always been awkward, and painful for Chris, for so many reasons. Our children and I have never even met Jack. I spoke on the phone with him once, eleven years ago, right before Chris and I married...

But over the years, Chris has told our children many "Steven" stories (Chris's middle name), which are all about Chris's early childhood antics and memories, many of which do include his Dad. Our kids adore these stories, and love their "Papa Jack" very much as a result. He is often remembered in our prayers together, and his personhood the object of rich child-like faith, interest and hopeful concern. Though they've yet to meet him, they do feel somewhat familiar with him, due to Chris's many colorful stories. Nathan, Tab and I are now SO, SO excited that we shall get to meet him THIS week! I think Chris is a *wee* bit excited too, maybe a bit nervous as well... *smiles*

This is such a miracle, and an answer to prayers. Over the years, we've tried a couple of times to visit him - inviting ourselves over to his place, or him to ours, but have always been turned down. For one reason, or another, it's never worked out before. I think that he must also feel very awkward now that so many years have past between them, with no relationship to speak of. But for the past few months, he and Chris have begun to conversate late into the night every other week or so...they're actually getting to know eachother. Jack is interestedly asking questions about our kids, and our lives here (has even made some comments about checking out property in the area!...who knows?). And now, HE is FINALLY coming HERE, to our home - for a WEEK!

Over a year ago now, Chris had shared with me that honestly, he didn't know how he'd feel when, and IF, he ever saw his Dad again... "Don't know if I'd want to hug him, or punch him..." he said to me, full of mixed emotions. Now though, God is at work, and NOW the time is right, for I see that a miracle is in the making...

Jack, my FIL, will be flying here from New Mexico, and arriving at our little local airport on Thursday!

Please pray that we make Jack feel at home, and that he and Chris find renewed vision for their relationship. Pray for restoration and healing, that our LORD's will be done here in this family.

So, I'm off to run some errands now, take the kids to their riding lessons, and have GOT to get our house ready for company. I am so thankful for this opportunity to minister to my husband's Father, and to officially receive him into our family, as my own Father, and our children's Grandfather. May he be blessed...

ps. I'm sure that I shall be scarce around here for the next two weeks...blessings to you all as you cherish your own families.

*Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me...* heheheee

He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers;
~Malachi 4.6

Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
~Psalm 37.4

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?

I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.

He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

~Ecclesiastes 3.1-11

    It brings tears to my eyes to see the way G-d answers prayer. I bet the prayers of your children have a whole lot to do with this miracle in the making.
